Sustainable Cities Promoting Urban Health - Promoting public health in Italy

This year, the "Sustainable cities promoting urban health" will be held in Turin! In 2016, the Trade Council together with Novo Nordisk Italy launched the initiative "Sustainable cities promoting urban health", a program that responds to the rise of urban diabetes and other health inequalities.

Sustainable Cities Promoting Urban Health
In 2016, The Trade Council in Rome and Novo Nordisk organized an event called Sustainable Cities Promoting Urban Health, which included a range of stakeholders, urban planners, policymakers and academics from both Rome and Copenhagen. Through roundtables and presentations, the event served as a way for the two cities to share experiences on public health. A prominent part of the program focused on how Copenhagen has nurtured a bicycle culture that has a great positive impact on public health.

In this way, Copenhagen and Danish businesses were well positioned to benefit from Rome’s hosting of Cities Changing Diabetes in 2017 and for future investments in public health from the city of Rome.

At their 2nd meeting, held July 3rd this year, the key note speaker was Ninna Thomsen, the Health and Care Mayor of Copenhagen. She presented the City of Copenhagen Health Policy 2015-2025, "Enjoy life Copenhageners", and stressed that the achievement for better health is all about taking a collective ownership through the interaction of private and public institutions with a common commitment for better health.

Later this year, a third event will be hosted in the Italian city of Turin in close collaboration with the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI).

All around the world The Trade Council works to create awareness of Danish companies and build bridges for more trade. Contact The Trade Council or one of our embassies, if your company seeks access to a foreign market.
