Collective personal accident insurance was transferred to an administration scheme as of 1 April 2011 and is managed by Tryg Forsikring.
The scheme comprises automatically all staff posted abroad by the MFA on location allowance terms, accompanying spouse or spouse equivalent and accompanying children under 21 years of age. Spouses who do not have permanent residence at the place of posting are covered by the accident insurance during temporary stays at the staff member’s place of posting. The same applies to children under 21 years of age who continue to receive maintenance payments from the staff member.
The MFA has doubled the sums in force at any time in the collective personal accident insurance for staff on postings in areas on the war and risk list of Europæiske Rejseforsikring. This list can only be accessed through the MFA’s Intranet.
SOS International A/S
Posted staff and accompanying spouse/partner and accompanying children are covered by the MFA’s administration scheme for sickness and home transport. The agreement has been concluded with SOS International A/S and was revised most recently as of 1 January 2014 as a result of the implementation of the new location allowance scheme.
For staff and their families posted abroad after 1 January 2014, sickness expenditure can be refunded by 100 per cent.
For staff and their families posted abroad before 1 January, sickness expenditure can be refunded by 80 per cent. The MFA is aware that TRYG no longer offers the so-called 20 per cent supplementary insurance to staff in the service abroad outside of Europe. Posted staff who receive a letter terminating their 20 per cent sickness insurance from TRYG may contact HR/Udeteam with a view to joining a temporary scheme.
For all staff and their families posted abroad, access has been achieved to reimbursement of reasonable and necessary additional expenditure against documentation in connection with travel to receive treatment granted by SOS International, including expenses for air tickets, accommodation, meals and necessary local transport upon presentation of documentation for expenses.
Please find more detailed information here on how to contact SOS International A/S.
Insurance cards will be sent to you automatically in connection with your posting abroad. Please notice that you are covered irrespective of whether or not you receive the card.
