Coverage in case of accidents

If accidents occur, how will I and my family be covered during our posting abroad?

Here you will find information about companies that administer the MFA’s insurance schemes:

◾ collective personal accident insurance, Cunningham Lindsey Leif Hansen A/S
◾ illness and home transport insurance, Europæiske Rejseforsikring A/S
◾ insurance for state employees travelling on official journeys, Europæiske Rejseforsikring A/S
◾ transport damage insurance (household goods), Tryg Forsikring

Since the state is self-insured, all the above schemes are only andministrated by the providers on the behalf of the MFA. In the event of accidents during official journeys, you can only claim coverage from either the insurance for state employees or the collective personal accident insurance.

Collective personal accident insurance

Cunningham Lindsey Leif Hansen A/S

Collective personal accident insurance was transferred to an administration scheme as of 1 September 2017 and is managed by Cunningham Lindsey Leif Hansen A/S.

The scheme covers the effects of accidents, i.e. damages from sudden events which can lead to loss of life or mobility. Coverage of dental injuries is also included.

The scheme comprises automatically all staff posted abroad by the MFA on location allowance terms, accompanying spouse or spouse equivalent as well as accompanying children under 21 years of age. Spouses who do not have permanent residence at the place of posting are covered by the accident insurance during temporary stays at the staff member’s place of posting. The same applies to children under 21 years of age who continue to receive maintenance payments from the staff member.

The MFA has doubled the sums in force at any time in the collective personal accident insurance for staff on postings in areas on the war and risk list of Europæiske Rejseforsikring. This list can only be accessed through the MFA’s Intranet.
