Danida Business Partnerships provides financial support for the preparation and implementation of comercially oriented partnerships between Danish companies and a wide array of local partners in order to mitigate some of the risks inherent to the pursuit of new business opportunities in developing countries.
Danida Business Partnerships focuses on transfer of knowhow and technology from Danish companies to local partners such as companies, civil society organisations or local authorities.
The objective of Danida Business Partnerships is to create jobs, strengthen competitiveness and promote corporate social responsibility (CSR) in developing countries. In return, Danish companies are presented with new markets, opportunities for cost savings and improved access to raw materials.
Danida Business Partnership applies to all Danida Priority Countries where the political and economic context allows for commercial cooperation, and where Danida has representation and capacity to support partnerships.
Danida Business Partnerships supports cooperation within all sectors with the exception of the tobacco, alcohol and weapon industry.
A Business Opportunity Profile is available for the priority countries where Danida Business Partnerships operates. The profiles serve as guides to the sectors and business areas with large potential both in terms of business opportunities and development impact.
All companies and organisations must pass an initial screening before submitting an application for support.
The support is structured in 3 phases:
Partner Identification Phase - 6 months
Preparation Phase - 6 months
Implementation Phase - 3 to 4 years
