Technical Advisory Services

Technical Advisory Services is responsible for the technical quality assurance of Danish bilateral and multilateral development cooperation. The team of 30 technical specialists cover a broad range of thematic areas, incl. growth and employment, climate change energy and environment, conflict and stability, good governance democracy and human rights and social development. Among its various tasks, Technical Advisory Services undertake appraisals and reviews of major programmes, we provide technical support to embassies and departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, contribute to the preparation of strategies and guidelines, and we are responsible for the Danish support to development research.

The Mission of Technical Advisory Services is:

“In the pursuit of overall Danish development and foreign policy priorities, Technical Advisory Services contributes its technical expertise and demand-driven advice towards assuring quality and proactively initiating improvements in development cooperation”.

Services

• Undertake reviews and appraisals
• On-going provision of technical advice to embassies, departments and multilateral representations.
• Upon request, support development of new programmes.
• Undertake country programme reviews and phasing out reviews.
• Contribute to overall and thematic strategic development, action plans, etc.
• Participate in international technical fora of relevance for Danish development cooperation.
• Responsible for management of Danish support to development research.
• Responsible for management of the Danish contribution to Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).
• Contribute to competence development, including pre-departure courses, technical seminars, etc.
• Preparation of guidelines and technical support documents, including Guidelines for Programme Management, How to Notes, etc.
• Dialogue with the Danish and international development community, particularly organisation of Danida Development Days.
