The Evaluation Department is an independent, specialised unit.
The primary task is to plan, design and implement evaluations of Danida’s development cooperation and to disseminate evaluation results and lessons learned to Danida staff, authorities in programme countries and other stakeholders. The Evaluation Department contributes to policy and strategy development in Danida by providing information on experiences gathered through its own and other donors’ evaluations.
Since 1987 Danida has published all evaluations with a view to informing the general public and political decision-makers about the results and processes of Danish development cooperation.
The Evaluation Department was subject to an external review in 2003. The assessment was implemented by three international evaluation experts.
In 2010, in connection with an examination of Danish development assistance to Tanzania, the National Audit Office of Denmark examined Danida’s evaluation practice and use of evaluations.
