Statement by Kristian Jensen, Minister for Foreign Affairs:
"Denmark condemns in the strongest possible terms the terror attack in Burkina Faso yesterday. I present my deepest condolences to the victims, their relatives and the people of Burkina Faso. The remarkable democratic transition in Burkina Faso since 2014, including well-conducted elections in November last year, have clearly stated the support of the people of Burkina Faso to democratic principles, and their wish to live in peace and stability. The terrorists shall not be allowed to shatter this aspiration. Terrorists cannot break democracies. We stand united in defeating terrorism.
Burkina Faso is a longstanding and close partner of Denmark in West Africa. Denmark works jointly with the international community in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel region. We are one of the strongest supporters of the civil society and democratic forces in Burkina Faso, which have been decisive in ensuring the democratic transition of the country.”
