The roadmap for equality is committed to consolidating and strengthening efforts to promote gender equality and women's rights and opportunities in the Danish development policy as well as in foreign policy and security policy.
Equality work builds on the momentum created in the wake of the Danish MDG3 campaign, i.e. the UN goal for gender equality and women's opportunities. Denmark continues to lead international efforts to achieve gender equality, and gender will be high on the agenda in the dialogue with partner countries. At the same time, women's sexual and reproductive health and rights are safeguarded and promoted.
The roadmap highlights 15 specific activities for gender equality in 2011. For example support to government institutions and NGOs working with gender equality in partner countries. Women are trained in how to establish their own business. In Kenya access to family planning and modern contraceptives is facilitated.
