The mission of the Global Green Growth Forum is to explore and demonstrate how better collaboration among business, experts and public institutions can effectively realise growth potentials of the transition to a green economy: the next industrial revolution.
Economic growth is a core driver in politics, business and society at large. However, the current economic growth paradigm is unsustainable. In a business as usual scenario, depletion of natural resources and climate change will seriously constrain future economic development worldwide.
A rapid, large-scale industrial transition is needed if global economic growth is to continue while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adapting societies to climate change and promoting a sustainable use of resources.
3GF recognizes the challenge as being an opportunity for growth and economic prosperity. The mission of the Forum is to explore and demonstrate how better collaboration among leading businesses, investors and key public institutions can effectively realize the potential for long-term global green growth.
3GF seeks to become the leading international venue for public demonstration of leadership and cooperation on green growth by top-level global decision-makers.
The Forum’s inaugural gathering, developed in association with Global Green Growth Institute, will take place in Copenhagen, 11-12 October 2011. The two day event will bring together 200 carefully selected leaders from global corporations, policymakers and regulators, private and institutional investors, leading researchers and key international organisations to address the key areas of energy and transport, cutting across the pertinent themes of finance, regulatory frameworks and international markets.3GF will provide a platform to spur creative, solution-oriented, thinking and action on:
3GF will both showcase and catalyze public-private initiatives that accelerate green growth at scale and demonstrate the potential for economic growth in the transition. This will allow for forum discussions to be informed by hands-on knowledge and experience with regards to the barriers, opportunities and solutions for advancing green growth policy and practice.
Demark and the other governmental 3GF partners will feed key outcomes and conclusions into high-level political processes, negotiations and forums at national and international level. As upcoming EU president, Denmark will take recommendations from 3GF to Rio+20 and to the EU’s green growth agenda. In addition, Korea and Mexico, as strategic partners, will help link outcomes to the G20.
