The Trade Council is a customer-oriented export and investment promotion organisation. The Trade Council creates results through individual approaches based on the customers’ needs. Focus is to be placed where the Trade Council creates most value for the business community and for Denmark. This applies to both export promotion and efforts to attract foreign direct investment to Denmark.

The Trade Council focuses on the business areas of Global Growth, Global Public Affairs and Global Opportunities and Risks. Cross-cutting the business areas, services that are free of charge highlight our public service obligation at the same time as expanding our customer base.
The Trade Council reaches out to many more small and medium-sized enterprises
The great number of small and medium-sized Danish enterprises constitutes a huge export potential – and the Trade Council therefore continues its special focus on these enterprises. The Trade Council has a number of programmes especially targeted at the small and medium sized companies with international potential. The aim is to promote the internationalization of small and medium-sized Danish enterprises and assist them with opportunities in export markets.The specific target is for the Trade Council to advise 7,500 Danish companies during 2010. The Trade Council also kick-starts small global growth enterprises’ exports with a new programme named VITUS. In only nine months VITUS is to lead to concrete export orders. The Trade Council enters into strategic partnerships with global Danish companies The most global Danish companies – small as well as large companies – can enter into Key Account Agreements with the Trade Council in order to use the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/ the Danish Em¬bassies more strategically to promote their exports globally. The companies are assigned a permanent adviser, who is available 24/7.
Innovation
The Danish innovation centers are part of the government’s efforts to stimulate research and innovation. The innovation centers are an entry point for innovative Danish companies and knowledge institutions into world leading hotspots within science, research and innovation. Through the centers innovative Danish companies have excellent conditions for gaining access to new knowledge, research, technology, network and international markets. The innovation centers are a joint project between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. So far, innovation centers have been established in Silicon Valley, Shanghai and Munich.
Investment Promotion
Invest in Denmark is the national Danish foreign investment promotion agency helping companies to explore business opportunities and establish themselves in Denmark. The objective is to create knowledge intensive jobs and growth and further strengthen the leading Danish clusters of life science, cleantech and ICT.
