With the new rules, Danish citizens living in Australia or New Zealand can now acquire Australian or New Zealand citizenship without losing their Danish citizenship.
According to the Danish Ministry of Justice, you no longer need to notify the Danish authorities if you acquire another citizenship.

Former Danish nationals, who lost their Danish citizenship by acquiring foreign citizenship before 1 September 2015 were up till 30 June 2026 able to apply for reacquisition of Danish citizenship by declaration. Please be informed this deadline have now expired - it is therefore no longer possible to apply for reacquisition of Danish Nationality according to § 5 A in the Danish Nationality Act.
