Based at the Consulate General of Denmark in Toronto you will play an essential role in marketing and communications activities for all trade and export activities undertaken by team Denmark in Canada. The communications team works across both the Consulate General in Toronto and the Embassy of Denmark in Ottawa, as well as part of a broader team across North America.
Depending on capacity, you may also work with Commercial Advisors to create partnerships, promote, and assist Danish companies in growing their businesses in North America. This could include business development, market scoping, policy analysis, and delegation planning across our key sectors – sustainable buildings and district energy, Arctic, and health & life sciences.
You will become an integral part of an office with 14 colleagues working for Denmark and Danish interests, based out of the Consulate General of Denmark in Toronto.
Main tasks and responsibilities

Generate, edit, and publish social media content in collaboration with colleagues to drive engagement and stakeholder action.

Manage day-to-day social media activity across platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.

Produce multimedia content (videos, images, graphics) using tools like Canva, Capcut, and Final Cut Pro.

Engage in weekly coordination and schedule content in coordination with the communications team in Ottawa; maintain ongoing coordination with the NA communications team as applicable.

Monitor engagement and analyse social media metrics to optimize performance, including preparing reports on performance with insights and recommendations.

Support with research and development for North American market entry strategies, business development strategies, stakeholder mapping, and market intelligence for Danish companies across our key sectors.

Support in meeting coordination, briefing, and follow-up activity, as well as potential outreach and engagement with public and private stakeholders in North America.
Required qualifications

Currently studying communication, journalism, media, marketing, business, economics, international relations, public policy, or a similar field with at least one year of study remaining and preference for two.

Experience with the production and dissemination of public relations / social media content.

Knowledge of coding languages, including Python, JavaScript, R is advantageous but not a prerequisite.

Experience with video and web editing, particularly Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, FinalCut and Trello is advantageous but not a prerequisite.

Knowledge of and interest in trade and export development.

Ambitious, creative, outgoing and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

A well-developed sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.

Existing permit to work in Canada is required as well as fluency in English (written and spoken).
Employment conditions
- You will be hired as a part time “Student Assistant” by the Consulate General of Denmark in Toronto, 2 Bloor St W Suite 2109, Toronto, ON M4W 3E2, Canada.
- Employment will be dependent on security clearance by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Starting date – September 2026 – pending security clearance.
- Your standard working hours are variable, but expected to range between 15-20 hours per week.
- Your will received an hourly rate based on your qualifications and relevant experience.
