In August 2026, I took up the position as Denmark's ambassador to Estonia. I am happy to build upon the solid foundation of friendship and cooperation that defines the relationship between our two countries.
Denmark and Estonia share not only geographical ties but also deep historical, cultural, and political relations. Our histories have been intertwined for centuries, and despite being separate nations, we share many common values and interests. At the embassy, we work to strengthen and expand the solid relations between Estonia and Denmark. This includes economic, political, and cultural aspects, as well as protecting mutual interests, particularly in the areas of security and defence.
Denmark was one of the first countries to recognize Estonia's independence in 1921. When Estonia regained its independence in 1991, I am proud to say that Denmark again was among the very first countries to restore diplomatic relations. Since then, our cooperation has grown stronger, both bilaterally, within the Nordic-Baltic cooperation, and on the international stage as members of the EU and NATO.
Today, we face a number of challenges, both regionally and globally, but I am confident that through continued progressive cooperation, we can contribute to creating a safer, more stable and prosperous future for both Denmark and Estonia.
