Denmark and India are accelerating India’s energy transition through the Indo-Danish Energy Partnership (INDEP), led by the Danish Energy Agency and Indian counterparts since 2020. As India scales renewable capacity from roughly 250 GW today to an estimated 3,200 GW by 2047, one of the world’s most ambitious energy transformations, Denmark brings decades of expertise in offshore wind, district heating, energy efficiency, and power system planning to support a secure, affordable, and sustainable energy future.

Key areas of cooperation:

• Offshore Wind: Supporting Tamil Nadu’s 4 GW offshore wind tender process, marine spatial planning, environmental assessments, grid integration, and port readiness in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, alongside repowering of onshore wind assets.
• Energy Planning and Modelling: Strengthening long-term power system planning with the Central Electricity Authority and NITI Aayog, supporting pathways aligned with India’s net-zero 2070 goals.
• Renewable Integration: Advancing grid flexibility, weather-based forecasting, market design, and regulatory frameworks, alongside energy-efficient data centres and industrial energy efficiency solutions.

Through joint studies, technical workshops, and institutional partnerships, Denmark and India continue to build a resilient, flexible, and future-ready power systems — advancing shared climate goals while unlocking inclusive economic growth.
