The Danish Embassy in Iceland is only permitted to receive an application and issue a visa to Greenland or the Faroe Islands for applicants with a legal residence permit in Iceland – the Danish Embassy in Iceland is not permitted to receive applications nor issue visas to Greenland or the Faroe Islands to tourists traveling through Iceland. Please note that the visa processing time is 15 days for applications counted from you have 1) filled in your visa application online AND 2) your personal appointment at the Danish Embassy in Reykjavik has taken place for handing in your documents and obtaining your biometrics. In cases where the processing requires further enquiries or submission to the Danish Immigration Service, the maximum processing time is 45 days.
The European Union has launched a new Entry/Exit System (EES) which will be in effect from 12 October, 2025, onwards. The EES is an automated IT-system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay, each time they cross the external borders of Schengen.
