Residence permit

The Danish Embassy in Nairobi is a Regional Visa Hub and as such handles applications for residence and work permit for Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland. Submission of application and biometrics take place through one of The Visa Application Centres in the region (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda).

Avoid traffickers selling services
Please note that the Embassy only cooperates with VFS Global. The Embassy has no connections or agreements with sellers outside the premises of the Embassy or VFS Global who offer services for payment. Such sellers can influence neither the processing period nor the decision.  All applications for residence in Denmark can only be processed through the Danish Authorities. No agencies can issue entry permits to Denmark. 

 

 
How to apply for work or residence permit
1. Visit The Danish Immigration Service's website and download the application form and prepare supporting documents.
2. Pay the fee to either the Danish Immigration Service or the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration.
3. Get an appointment with VFS Global. Kindly not that VFS can receive your application on: Monday - Friday 8.00-12.00 walk-ins and after 12.00 with appointment. For appointments, click here.

4. Pay the embassy fee through the webshop and print receipt.
5. For your appointment at VFS Global have your biometrics (photo and fingerprints) captured, hand in original passport, application form and supporting documents.
6. Please note that an additional fee must be paid to VFS.

Application submitted online or directly with the Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment or Danish Immigration Service
If the application has been submitted online to www.newtodenmark.dk the applicant must have his/her biometric data recorded within 14 days. Applicant is required to:
• Get an appointment with VFS Global. Kindly not that VFS can receive your application on: Monday - Friday 8.00-12.00 walk-ins and after 12.00 with appointment. For appointments, click here.
• Bring original passport.
• Print out of the confirmation that the application was submitted online.
• Pay the embassy fee through the webshop and print the receipt.
• Please note that an additional fee must be paid to VFS.
