How to apply for an international driving license

As of 24 September 2018, Danish citizens may drive in Malaysia with an international driving license accompanied with a valid Danish driving license or declaration from Danish police on the holder’s driving rights.

You can apply for an international driving license at the Royal Danish Embassy. You need to bring the following to your appointment:

  • A valid Danish driving license
  • Current passport
  • Application form
  • 2 passport photos (requirements can be found here)
  • Proof of Payment (fee is to be remitted to the Royal Danish Embassy’s bank account)

Please note international driving licenses are issued in Denmark and the processing time is approximately 4 weeks.
