Its entrepreneurial spirit, extraordinary cultural diversity and young population make it a driving force for innovation and economic growth - not only in West Africa, but across the continent. It is a great honour and privilege to represent Denmark in Nigeria and to contribute to the growing partnership between our two countries.
Denmark recognised Nigeria on the day of its independence on 1 October 1960, and our countries have enjoyed close and friendly relations ever since. Today, our partnership is stronger than ever. It is founded on mutual respect, close political dialogue and a shared commitment to democracy, international law, multilateral cooperation and human rights.
Nigeria is one of Denmark's most important partners in Africa. Guided by the Danish Government's Africa Strategy, we work closely with Nigerian institutions, businesses and civil society, alongside our Nordic partners and the European Union, to promote sustainable economic growth, strengthen institutions and expand opportunities for trade, investment, innovation and job creation. Our ambition is to build long-term partnerships that create value for both Denmark and Nigeria.
In addition to serving as Ambassador to Nigeria, I am Denmark's Permanent Representative to the ECOWAS and Ambassador to Benin, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
Together with the dedicated staff of the Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos, I am committed to deepening the partnership between Denmark and Nigeria through dialogue, trust and practical cooperation.
