Certification, legalisation and translations

Certification services

If you need to certify, for example, your Danish citizenship, your signature or an official document for use in Portugal or Denmark, the Embassy can conduct a certification service subject to payment.

Requirements for your document and ID:

Your document must be original or a copy and complete. If the document refers to other documents or annexes, these must be included.

When requesting a certification of your signature, you must bring:

  • your valid passport/photo ID
  • the document to be signed
  • if you are not acting on your own behalf, but on behalf of a company, as a warden, etc.: provide a document stating your power of attorney (original or certified copy).

Legalisation/apostille of documents from Portugal for use in Denmark

Documents issued in Portugal, do not require a legalisation from the Embassy in order to be used in Denmark. You must instead contact the Procuradoria-Geral da República (Attorney General's Office) in Portugal who will legalise your document, according to the Apostille Convention.

You can find more information though the following link: Apostille | Public Prosecution Service of Portugal

For digital documents, the apostille can be done digitally as well. Please see the following link for more information: Apostila (only in Portuguese).

Translation of documents

If you need a document to be translated to Danish, Portugal or English for use in Portugal or Denmark, you should contact an authorized, local translator.

The Embassy only conducts minor translation tasks, such as Danish driver’s licenses, passports, birth certificates etc. For these services, please contact the Embassy by e-mail with a clear scan of the document.
