Modern food systems have become more efficient, yet increasingly distant. For many people - including policy and decision makers - the realities of food production, farming and food culture are no longer visible or well understood. This disconnect is now widely recognized as a barrier to progress across health, climate and sustainability agendas.
At the same time, food literacy is gaining attention as part of the solution. Not only as information, but as a combination of skills, confidence, cultural understanding and lived experience that shapes how people relate to food - and how societies design effective and trusted policies.
The roundtable is an opportunity to reflect on how food literacy can serve as a shared focus for continued dialogue and action beyond London Climate Action Week to deliver more effective policy and societal outcomes.
