Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The Embassy of Denmark in Korea is looking for an Academic Officer who mainly will work with matters related to overseas adoptions from Korea. You will be part of the Political, Cultural and Public Diplomacy Team at the Embassy, and work in close cooperation with a Danish diplomat directly responsible for this area.
You will be assisting adoptees and their families gain insight into past cases and adoption histories. You will help the embassy establish a network amongst relevant Korean organisations and authorities. We expect that you also will help develop a procedure for managing adoption cases going forward.
In addition, you will be an integral part of the political team and assist on the preparation of delegation visits, preparation of background and meeting notes etc., namely related to international adoption.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• A relevant university degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the field of adoption or international cooperation.
• Experience and knowledge of the adoption area, e.g. from a non-government or government body, as well as an established network in relevant organisations and agencies will be a big advantage.
• A proactive and flexible mindset and ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to establish professional relationships and represent the embassy in a professional manner when engaging with external partners;
• Fluency in written and spoken Korean and advanced proficiency in both written and spoken English are required.
Employment Conditions
The Embassy of Denmark offers a temporary position with a fixed term of two years without possibility of extension. Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
