On November 25th and 26th, Kyiv welcomed the largest-ever Danish business delegation, led by Minister of Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs, Morten Bødskov. This visit highlighted Denmark’s steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine’s recovery through economic cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
The delegation included senior leaders from prominent Danish companies such as DSV, Carlsberg, Terma, Maersk, Velux, JYSK, and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI). The visit underscored the deepening economic ties between Denmark and Ukraine, combining strategic investments with social responsibility to aid Ukraine during the ongoing war.
A key moment of the visit was the opening of the Danish-Ukrainian Business Conference, which brought together a wide range of industry leaders to discuss opportunities for collaboration and investment. During the conference, Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, and Minister Bødskov signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement introduced a fast-track system to help Danish companies connect more efficiently with Ukrainian authorities, streamlining their operations and encouraging further investments.
Minister Bødskov also held bilateral meetings with Vice Prime Minister Svyrydenko, Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba, and Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin to discuss Denmark’s role in supporting Ukraine’s infrastructure restoration and industrial development. The visit included tours of Danish companies already operating in Ukraine, such as the Carlsberg brewery and the DSV warehouse, which demonstrated the resilience and contribution of these businesses to Ukraine’s economy.
In addition to fostering business ties, the delegation highlighted Denmark’s humanitarian commitment. Minister Bødskov visited a housing facility for a foster family in the Kyiv region, built by the Olena Zelenska Foundation, and announced additional Danish funding to support the First Lady’s charity initiatives. These funds will focus on helping foster families and reconstructing housing for those affected by the war.
The visit also included a moving trip to Bucha, where the delegation paid tribute to the victims of the atrocities committed in spring 2022. Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk and Father Andriy shared personal accounts of the early days of the Russian invasion, emphasizing the resilience and courage of the Ukrainian people.
