“Ukraine’s need for military support remains massive, and one of the best ways we can help is by contributing more to the Ukrainian defence industry. In this way, we ensure rapid donations that can be used directly on the battlefield. And we know there is still unused capacity in the Ukrainian defence industry. That is why we are today allocating nearly DKK 1.6 billion more to the so-called Danish model,” says Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen.
In total, Denmark has now allocated around DKK 5.9 billion to the Danish model in the period 2024–2027. So far, commitments for donations totaling approx. DKK 18.5 billion have been made via the Danish model in 2024–2027 – thanks in large part to contributions from allies, and especially the EU.
In addition, Donation Package XXVII allocates a further approx. DKK 1.1 billion to a number of other donations.
“We best strengthen Ukraine’s defence capability here and now by supporting the country’s own defence industry. I have just been in Kyiv and seen with my own eyes the difference the country’s arms manufacturers make. We are now investing in the Ukrainian companies that produce what Ukraine specifically needs,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
Donation Package XXVII is financed by the Ukraine Fund. With this package, Denmark has so far made decisions on military support for Ukraine amounting to approx. DKK 70.3 billion for the period 2022–2028.
