“Denmark remains committed to support Ukraine in achieving energy security. We cannot wait for peace before we start to act”, says Head of the Danish Embassy Office in Mykolaiv Jakob Torrild Hansen in his opening speech.
Vicious Russian attacks on the energy sector beget urgent needs of the energy sector to maintain the lighting and, most importantly, to prepare for the coming winter. In this regard much attention is fittingly focussed on emergency repairs and rebuilding of the power plants. But equally important will be to use energy much more responsibly and thereby reduce the need for power generation. This is where the new regional Decarbonisation and Energy Efficiency Offices will play a key role. By supporting the office in Mykolaiv, Denmark aims to promote awareness and stimulate public and private investments in energy efficient technologies and solutions.
