VISIT OF THE SPEAKER OF THE DANISH PARLIAMENT AND DANISH LAWMAKERS TO MYKOLAIV

The visit underscored Denmark’s continued commitment to Ukraine and to strengthening ties with the people of Mykolaiv, a city and a region that have demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression.

The program included:

• A meeting and walk with Governor Vitalii Kim, Chairman of the Regional Council Anton Tabunshchik, and Mayor Oleksandr Syenkevych;
• A visit to Mykola Arkas Gymnasium together with the Mayor and representatives of UNOPS, where repair works are underway with UNDP support and Danish financing. The historic building, twice damaged by Russian attacks, is being restored as part of efforts to support education and cultural heritage;
• A working lunch with the command of one of the Ukrainian military units, recognizing Ukraine’s courageous defence;
• A visit to a UKRENERGO substation, focusing on energy security and Ukraine’s efforts to protect key infrastructure. The site, repeatedly targeted by Russian attacks, showed both the scale of damage and protective measures made possible through donor support. Discussions centered on how to strengthen international assistance for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector.

During the visit, the Speaker and Danish lawmakers conveyed Denmark’s unwavering solidarity with Ukraine and reaffirmed Denmark’s long-term commitment to supporting reconstruction, democratic governance, and Ukraine’s path toward European integration.
