Since the establishment of official diplomatic relations in 1971, Denmark and Vietnam have built a close friendship and cooperation. With the adoption of the Green Strategic Partnership in 2023, we upgraded our partnership and placed the green transition at the centre of cooperation across areas such as trade and investment, energy, food and agriculture, health, statistics, education, and culture. The green partnership builds on the comprehensive partnership agreement from 2013, which marked the transition from a traditional development cooperation to a mutually binding and beneficial partnership.

Vietnam is thus an important partner for Denmark when it comes to sustainability and responsible growth. Over the past 17 years, Denmark has shared experience and solutions to support Vietnam’s green transition and development through various projects and business activities.

The economic and business relationship between Denmark and Vietnam has also strengthened. Danish exports and imports of goods to and from Vietnam are increasing, and today around 150 Danish companies have activities in the country. Denmark is also one of the largest European investors in Vietnam. With recent investments from, among others, Lego and Pandora, total Danish investments have more than quadrupled from 2021 to 2025.

Although we have already achieved a great deal together, the future potential for cooperation remains substantial. As the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, my primary task remains to strengthen the already strong and flourishing relationship with Vietnam in all areas, to the benefit of both countries and their peoples.
