Denmark's development assistance is administered on the basis of the Danish Act on International Development Cooperation (Act No. 555 of 18/06/2012). The act came into force on 1st of January 2013 and has since been amended four times.
The first amendment (Act No. 1464 of 17/12/2013), came into force 1st of January 2014, and the second amendment (Act No. 1741 of 27/12/2016) came into force 1st of January 2017. The third amendment (Act No. 108 of 26/01/2022), came into force 1st of February 2022, and the most recent amendment (Act No. 1788 of 29/12/2025), came into force 1st of January 2026.
In parallel with the most recent amendment, the Executive Order on Transparency and Inclusion in the Administration of Development Cooperation (BEK No. 1819 of 29/12/2025) came into force on 1st of January 2026.
