Expression of Interest in the formulation of a programme to promote free trade and economic integration in Africa

Deadline for application: 15 January 2024 at 14:00 Danish time

Description:

The consultancy relates to the formulation of a new regional programme anchored at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi, which will seek to promote free trade and economic integration in Africa.

The programme could have both an intercontinental focus as well as a regional component, focusing on East Africa. With the understanding that increased trade contributes to greater economic prosperity nationally and regionally, by increasing businesses’ access to markets, so stimulating production, innovation, job creation and investment. This in turn leads to the development of new industries, and greater productivity.

The increased incomes for traders and firms, enhanced Government revenue, and improved living standards for citizens contribute to higher levels of economic growth than would otherwise have been achieved.

Increased trade is a function of reducing the barriers to trade, achieved through better and more efficient infrastructure, enhanced digital systems, better harmonized policies and standards, more partnerships, especially between the public and private sector and improved capacity of the key stakeholders.

The budget for the programme is 50-200 mill DKK over a 3-4 year programmatic period (starting from 2025).

The assignment relates to a max budget of DKK 723,900.- net of VAT
