Evaluation of Danish Engagement in Mozambique 1992-2016
This evaluation provides an assessment of the achieved results and lessons learned from Danish cooperation with Mozambique from 1992 to 2016. The evaluation focuses on the overall approach and strategic choices made by Denmark in its partnership with Mozambique during the period evaluated. The evaluation puts emphasis on the last decade of development cooperation and bases its findings of the period 1992-2006 on a previous evaluation of development cooperation between Mozambique and Denmark 1992-2006, published in 2008.
The evaluation finds that Denmark has been a flexible and persistent donor and has provided important strategic support to key development processes during the evaluated period. The evaluation emphasizes the support provided to, among others, the consolidation of the Public Financial Management (PFM) system, as well as long-term and persistent support to the Tete province in a range of sectors. Furthermore, support to the strengthening of the justice system and decentralisation has been effective and contributed to the development of Mozambique.
The evaluation was undertaken by Tana Copenhagen ApS.
