  • The Cultural Section works to foster cultural collaboration between Denmark and Lebanon by facilitating direct cultural exchanges and projects between Danish and Lebanese artists, cultural institutions and stakeholders and by promoting Danish arts and culture in Lebanon.

Our goal is to ensure the highest possible quality and best visibility for Danish arts and artists, including securing the right partnerships with Lebanese cultural institutions, artistic collaborators and stakeholders.

  • The Danish Institute in Damascus opened in 2000 in the magnificent Bayt al-Aqqad in Old Damascus.

The institute is the only Danish institution in the Arab world focusing on science. It supports and organizes seminars and workshops temporarily outside Syria. The main purpose of the institute is to build bridges between scholars and artists in the Arabs and Muslim world and Denmark.

Twice a year the institute distribute grants to scholars and students who study the Middle East.

Bayt al-Aqqad is temporarily closed. When open it offers rooms for scholars, students and artists carrying out field work in Syria. Bayt al-Aqqad also offers a beautiful frame for cultural events where Syrian and Arab culture meets Danish culture.
