Health Insurance Card
Please note that you cannot use the yellow health insurance card (Danish) as travel insurance. Instead, you must use the blue European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and/or private travel insurance. The EHIC does not cover repatriation in the event of illness or an accident.
For longer stays (up to one year), it is also advisable to bring an EHIC, which gives you access to the Portuguese health insurance system on an equal footing with Portuguese nationals. Please note that there are user charges at public hospitals and medical centres.
