Imprisonment

The Danish Embassy can assist Danish nationals who have been taken into custody or have been imprisoned in the UK by:

• Notifying their family and relatives
• Ensuring that they are offered proper legal assistance during their imprisonment and trial
• Ensuring they are treated in accordance with English/Scottish legislation.

Visits from a member of embassy staff or from one of our consulates throughout the UK can be arranged if requested by the prisoner.

It is important to emphasize that the Danish Embassy is not in a position to influence the English/Scottish legal, court or prison procedures and is therefore not able to have Danish nationals released early, moved to other prisons or have their sentences reduced.
