In June 2024, Denmark was elected for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council. The membership is a natural extension of our strong and longstanding commitment to the UN and international cooperation. Denmark last served on the UN Security Council for the period 2005-2006 - together with Tanzania. We are proud to once again be entrusted with this important responsibility.
Denmark has secured a seat on the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 term after a vote in the UN General Assembly. This marks Denmark's fifth time on the Council, and we plan to focus on international law, conflict adaptation, climate change impacts on security, and the women, peace, and security agenda.
