Private companies own major parts of what we know as cyberspace. Both the physical infrastructure, including undersea cables, satellites and modems, as well as the application layer including apps, programs and control systems. Moreover, with access to crucial global data, tech and cyber security companies are often the first to discover and respond to cyberattacks. In response to the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape, marked by developments such as cybercrime-as-a-service and the rise of cryptocurrency, Denmark has played a pivotal role in convening like-minded countries for high-level security policy discussions with the tech industry. Addressing cyber threats in a shifting geopolitical landscape stands as a key challenge of the 21st century – and remains essential to retain trust in technological development.
