Red Carpet Program

The Red-Carpet Program is a Fast-Track business visa program for qualified companies with employees frequently travelling to Denmark for business purposes.

How to apply

In order to apply for enrolment in program you need to obtain the necessary forms.

To request an agreement form, please send an email to [email protected] stating name of the company or organisation you represent and the name of the Danish company or organisation you do business with.

Before applying, please read the General Terms and Company Accreditation

You will receive a return email with the agreement form and a list of documentation required for the Red Carpet application to be processed.


Submitting forms and documents

The agreement form and annexes must be filled out and returned along with the supplementary documentation.

Your application can be sent via email or by post.

When a decision is reached

The Embassy will reach a decision within two weeks. A representative from your company or organisation may be called to the Embassy for an interview.

If you are approved to be enrolled in the Red Carpet Program, an agreement is signed by both parties and further information regarding visa application procedures is forwarded to you.

If you are not approved you will receive a letter from the embassy informing you of this.

Please note, that this decision does not affect in any way eligibility for applying for and obtaining a Schengen visa following standard visa application procedures.

 

Affiliated companies

As of 2023, the VU5 form has allowed Danish registered companies to invite foreign employees from affiliated companies abroad to work in Denmark for short periods without having to apply for a work permit.

Who are qualified to use the VU5 form?

The general conditions for the exemption scheme for affiliated companies are:

    • The foreigner must be employed in a company outside Denmark that is affiliated with a company in Denmark (The exemption applies to Danish, international and foreign companies in Denmark. It is not a requirement that the parent company is located in Denmark).
    • The company in Denmark must have at least 50 employees (Based on number of employees in CVR register).
    • The employee can work in Denmark for two separate periods within a period of 180 days without a work permit
    • Each working period must last no more than 15 working days (Excludes weekends and public holidays unless the employee is going to work on these days)
    • Unused days cannot be transferred to subsequent working periods
    • The employee must stay outside Denmark for at least 14 days between the two working periods

What work is not allowed on the VU5?

The exemption applies to all kinds of positions; however, there are restrictions within certain industries, including:

    • Construction
    • Agriculture, horticultural and forestry sector
    • Cleaning (including window cleaning)
    • Hotels and restaurants
    • Carriage of goods
      - unless the foreigner in question is travelling to Denmark to carry out work at management level or work requiring knowledge at intermediate or the highest level.
