Energy Policy Advisor

The advisor's primary role is to promote the exchange with German authorities focused on the development of successful legislative framework conditions for district heating and energy efficiency. The advisor also acts as a point of contact between Danish representations in Germany, the German partners and the Danish Energy Agency, where the EGP program is based, and will work closely with a team of Danish energy experts across relevant technical and regulatory fields. Other responsibilities include coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' commercial activities in the area, including the Danish-German District Heating Alliance (DFA), as well as various communication tasks.

The ideal candidate has in-depth energy technical understanding, solid knowledge of current energy policy in both Germany and Denmark, as well as strong communication, coordination and networking skills. Specialized knowledge within district heating and energy efficiency in buildings as well as an established network in the energy sector would be an advantage.

• A relevant academic education, e.g. in social sciences, commerce or engineering
• In-depth knowledge of and/or practical experience with German energy policy
• Specific knowledge about district heating and energy efficiency
• A network within relevant institutions  
• Fluent German at native level, written and spoken
• Danish skills are desirable, but not required, and can be replaced by good English skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience with communication and PR

• The workplace is the Danish Embassy in Berlin. Travel activity within Germany and occasional visits to Denmark will be required.
• The position is available from 1 September 2026 or shortly thereafter.
• The employment is subject to a security check by the Danish authorities.
• The position is initially limited to two years.
