IMPORTANT INFORMATION

New access to entry to the Faroes Islands and Greenland for third-country nationals.

Please note: It is now possible for third-country nationals holding valid R/W permits (physical residence/work permit cards) issued by a Schengen Member State in accordance with the Council Regulation to travel to the Faroe Islands or Greenland for short-term stay (up to 90 days) without obtaining a visa.

Third-country nationals who are subject to a visa (and does not hold a valid R/W permit cf. above) must still apply for a visa to the Faroe Islands or Greenland prior to travel.

Visa application processing times at Danish missions are indicative and may vary due to factors including the peak application period and the need for additional examination. 

Average visa processing time is now 20 days for applications received after 8 September 2026.

Applicants submitting their application through the Danish Embassy in Brussels are required to book an appointment for biometric enrolment and submission of supporting documentation: Appointment
