These are the terms of use for the MFA’s social media channels.
In this context, the MFA comprises both the service at home and abroad, including missions and ambassadors with official accounts on ‘X’.
The MFA wishes to promote constructive dialogue and therefore encourages all staff who engage in social media to maintain an appropriate tone in comments.
We reserve the right to remove comments that:
- contravene current legislation (e.g., comments containing offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, harassing, or racist content)
- contain personal or sensitive information
- exhibit a commercial nature
- fail to identify a personal sender or qualify as spam
- have no relevance to the site’s theme or the post commented on, or otherwise derail the discussion.
In case of repeated violations of the MFA’s code of conduct for the use of social media, we reserve the right to block the user.
Furthermore, we reserve the right to disable comments on posts or channels when the tone becomes offensive, abusive, or otherwise unacceptable, or when the volume of comments exceeds our moderation capacity. This helps us maintain a constructive and respectful dialogue across our platforms.
The MFA’s social media channels should only be used for opinions and comments. Inquiries that require a response should be sent to the MFA by email: [email protected].
The MFA willingly engages in discussions on social media to the extent possible. However, please note that the MFA cannot comment on cases involving personal data or politically sensitive matters.
The MFA follows other profiles/accounts/pages on social media in order to stay informed and to engage in dialogue. The fact that the ministry follows a given profile/account/page does not imply agreement or sympathy with the views expressed on the respective sites. Similarly, reposts, retweets, and likes do not necessarily signal agreement, but may simply reflect a wish to share information.
The MFA’s social media channels are monitored and edited within normal office hours (local time).
If you believe that a comment or post violates our code of conduct, please contact the MFA at [email protected].
