Danida Market Development Partnerships

DMDP – Danida Market Development Partnerships

Through commercial- and non-commercial partnerships the DMDP brings together actors from private sector, civil society and public authorities aimed at promoting sustainable business, international development and employment opportunities, contributing primarily to Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 17. The overall purpose of a DMDP project is to catalyse local economic activity, market development and unleash business potential leading to employment and income opportunities in the Danish priority countries.

The programme ended as a funding opportunity in 2021 and has funded a total of 36 partnership projects in 15 different development countries, which are implemented up until 2026. Sustainable growth is a key principle of the DMDP programme. The challenging situation many developing countries finds themselves in asks for partners to respond with socio-economic recovery that focuses on inclusive job creation and green transition. DMDP is able to play a pivotal role in such a response as DMDP projects help create a foundation for vulnerable people to make a decent living.

The 36 DMDP projects are engaging a wide variety of sectors such as agriculture, waste management, circular economy/green transition, manufacturing and tourism. DMDP projects addresses local, national and international challenges through commercially sustainable business cases designed to create decent jobs in developing countries, contributing directly to the increased livelihood of beneficiaries and communities.
