The European Union’s Entry/Exit System (EES) will be fully operational from 10 April onwards, following its progressive start of operations on 12 October 2025. The EES is an automated IT-system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay, each time they cross the external borders of Schengen. Please note that there is currently operational instability in our Honorary Consulates' email system, which means that some emails might not be received by the consulate.

The processing time in visa cases is 17 days for applications received after 13 October 2026, when all required documentation has been provided. The 17 days is counted from when you have filled in your visa application online AND your personal appointment at the Danish Embassy in Reykjavik has taken place for handing in your documents and obtaining your biometrics.

Applications received before this date may take up to 25 days

In cases where the processing requires further enquiries or submission to the Danish Immigration Service, the maximum processing time is 45 days.
