Do you want to be the new Personal Assistant to the Ambassador?

On 31 August 2026, Denmark reopened its embassy in Damascus. The Embassy will strengthen the Danish presence in Syria and is looking for new locally employed colleagues.

We are seeking a dynamic, positive, and professional full-time staff member to work as personal assistant (PA) to the Ambassador. Depending on qualifications, the successful candidate could also work as interpreter, various admin tasks and be involved in public diplomacy and communication activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities 

  • Personal Assistant (PA) to the Ambassador;
  • Interpreter Arabic-English in various meetings, documented proficiency;
  • Preparing meeting activities, organising events, contacts, assistance with official visits;
  • Administrative tasks, calendar, operational activities;
  • Reception work, contact to relevant ministries, partners and public authorities and institutions, protocol issues, translation;
  • Contributing to the planning and execution of public diplomacy and communication activities, including on social media, as relevant.

 

Required qualifications

  •  A master’s degree in a relevant topic and relevant working experience;
  • Fluency in Arabic and excellent spoken and written English;
  • Proven record of long experience as PA in similar position working with diplomacy;
  • Ability to work and thrive in an inter-cultural environment;
  • Strong personal drive, proactive, systematic and with the ability to work independently;
  • Strong compliance and ability to navigate with complex rules, procedures, and guidelines;
  • Strong IT skills, incl. MS Office.

Employment conditions 

  • You will be offered full-time employment on a local contract with a three (03) months probation period.
  • You will be entitled to four weeks (20 working days) of paid holiday per year.
  • Partial medical coverage for you and your immediate family members.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related experiences.
