  Visa application – what you need to know

  Your visa application will be processed by the Danish Embassy in Nairobi but you can submit your application at VFS Global in Kampala or Nairobi.

  The processing time in visa cases is 15 calendar days, when all required documentation has been provided. See the embassy in Ugandas frontpage for a weekly update as processing times can vary during peak seasons. 

  In cases where the processing requires further enquiries or submission to the Danish Immigration Service, the maximum processing time is 45 calendar days.

  The case processing time is calculated from the day the Embassy register the application in the visa system. It is not calculated from the time you apply online or submit the application at a VFS centre.

  Regional Visa Hub

  Visa applications for travel to Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland that are submitted at the Danish Visa Application Centers in Addis Ababa, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dar es Salaam, Kampala and Nairobi are processed by the regional visa hub at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi.

  Avoid traffickers pretending to be selling services

  Please note that the regional visa hub only cooperates with VFS Global. The regional visa hub has no connections or agreements with sellers outside the premises of the Embassy or VFS Global who offer services for payment. No seller can influence neither the processing period nor the decision.

  The regional visa hub is the authority who will assess and grant or refuse visa applications. The Visa Application Center - VFS Global - is not involved in the decision making process.

• How to apply for your Schengen visa to Denmark

  Case processing time for visa applications at the Danish Missions is 15 days. Please be aware that if there is a need for further investigation, the case processing time may be up to 45 days.

  Remember to verify if you need to book a time slot with VFS Global in order to submit your application at your local Visa Application Centre or if they offer walk-in service.

• How to apply for a residence and work permit

  Applications for residence permit should be handed in at the VFS Centre in Kampala or Nairobi. For VFS contact information please visit: http://www.vfsglobal.com/denmark/uganda/ 

  The Danish Embassy in Nairobi is a Regional Visa Hub and as such handles applications for residence and work permit for Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland. Submission of application and biometrics take place through one of The Visa Application Centres in the region (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda). 

  The processing time for residence/work permit depends on the type of application. For specific processing time, please consults 'New to Denmark' here.

  Avoid traffickers selling services

  Please note that the Embassy only cooperates with VFS Global. The Embassy has no connections or agreements with sellers outside the premises of the Embassy or VFS Global who offer services for payment. Such sellers can influence neither the processing period nor the decision.  All applications for residence in Denmark can only be processed through the Danish Authorities. No agencies can issue entry permits to Denmark.

  How to apply for work or residence permit

  1. Visit The Danish Immigration Service's website and download the application form and prepare supporting documents.
  2. Pay the fee to either the Danish Immigration Service or the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration.
  3. Get an appointment with VFS Global. Kindly not that VFS can receive your application on: Monday - Friday 8.00-12.00 walk-ins and after 12.00 with appointment. For appointments, click here.
  4. Pay the embassy fee through the webshop and print receipt.
  5. For your appointment at VFS Global, have your biometrics (photo and fingerprints) captured and hand in original passport, application form and supporting documents.
  6. Please note that an additional fee must be paid to VFS.

  Application submitted online or directly with the Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment or Danish Immigration Service

  If the application has been submitted online to www.newtodenmark.dk the applicant must have his/her biometric data recorded within 14 days. Applicant is required to:

  1. Get an appointment with VFS Global. Kindly note that VFS can receive your application on: Monday - Friday 8.00-12.00 walk-ins and after 12.00 with appointment. For appointments, click here.
  2. Bring original passport.
  3. Print out of the confirmation that the application was submitted online.
  4. Pay the embassy fee through the webshop and print the receipt. Please note that an additional fee must be paid to VFS.
