SMEs contribute significantly to the Danish economy, representing 99% of Danish companies and accounting for a quarter of Danish exports. They also play a key role in driving sustainable transition and innovation. The Trade Council supports Danish SMEs in their international exports and expansion in collaboration with regional Business Hubs in Denmark. SMEs are eligible for a number of specialised services and grants.
The Trade Council in Brussels specifically assists Danish SMEs looking to export to Belgium and/or Luxembourg. It also engages in regional cooperation with Trade Council offices in the Hague, Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich.
In addition to individual tailor-made SME assistance, the Trade Council also offers a number of SME programmes, which include assistance in developing initial export plans (Export Sparring), market specific assessment of SME business models (Scope Your Business Model), and the facilitation of collaboration between Danish companies across a sector to explore export opportunities for Danish solutions within that sector (Strategic Business Alliance). For a full overview of the tailored programmes see The Trade Council’s website.
In 2025, SMEs are eligible for a 50% reduction on The Trade Council's hourly fee.
