The Danish-Egyptian Strategic Sector Cooperation is a government to government program between the Danish Energy Agency and the Egyptian Energy Authorities. There is an interest among the Egyptian Energy authorities to gain insight into the Danish experience with integration of renewable energy, specifically wind energy, into the power system. By combining the Danish Energy Agency’s knowledge in planning and regulation of the power sector with the Danish transmission system operator Energinet’s expertise in operating and planning for a renewable energy based power system, there is a solid basis for transfer of knowledge and experience that will benefit Egypt on its green transition journey. The cooperation focuses on long-term energy planning, wind project development, and the integration of renewable energy in the power grid, including the liberalization of the power market. The Egyptian partners include the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the New and Renewable Energy Agency (NREA), and the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EgyptERA).
