COVID-19: Gradual reopening of travel activities entering into force on 21 April 2021

Effective of 21 April 2021 the Danish government will change the travel restrictions for the entire world from a “red” risk to a lower “orange” or “yellow” risk classification. The “red” classification will remain for a few specific countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Protocol Department, presents its compliments to all Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Denmark and to International Organisations and Other Missions resident in Copenhagen and Honorary Consulates in Denmark and has the honour to share the following, as per the attached fact sheet:

Effective of 21 April 2021 the Danish government will change the travel restrictions for the entire world from a “red” risk to a lower “orange” or “yellow” risk classification. The “red” classification will remain for a few specific countries.

Countries and regions will thus be categorised into “yellow”, “orange” and “red” classifications, based on the current epidemiological situation of the specific country or region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will advise against all unnecessary travel even though a country or region is classified as “yellow” if the country or region has extensive travel restrictions.

The previously specified requirements for entering Denmark, such as testing and isolation, will continue to apply. However, persons travelling from “yellow” classified countries or regions will be exempt from isolation. Additionally, other exceptions will apply, for example for the border regions and persons travelling for business.

Moreover, the list of worthy purposes for entering Denmark will be extended. This extension will, however, not apply for “red” countries or regions. The full list of worthy purposes as well as further information will be available here: https://coronasmitte.dk/en/entry-into-denmark. The requirement to have a worthy purpose will not apply to persons residing in “yellow” classified countries and “yellow” classified Nordic regions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Protocol Department, takes this opportunity to renew to all Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Denmark and to International Organisations and Other Missions resident in Copenhagen and Honorary Consulates in Denmark the assurances of its highest consideration.
