Fourth and final phase of the gradual reopening of travel activities as of 26 June 2021
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Protocol Department, presents its compliments to all Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Consulates accredited to Denmark and to International Organisations and Other Missions resident in Copenhagen and Honorary Consulates in Denmark and has the honour to share the following as per the attached press briefing:
As of 26 June 2021, the Danish Government will implement the fourth and final phase of the political agreement regarding the gradual reopening of travel activities.
New rules (all countries)
The requirement to present a negative test before boarding an airplane to Denmark will be targeted to “red” countries and regions (i.e. areas with variants of concern) and thus lifted for the rest of the world.
Foreigners who are not habitually resident in or have a valid residence permit for Denmark still need to present a negative test at the border (if not exempted). The validity of PCR-tests will be extended from 48 to 72 hours.
Note that the requirement to have a worthy purpose to enter Denmark still apply for most countries outside EU and Schengen. In addition, special rules apply for travellers from an area classified as “red” (VOI and VOC areas). Also, special rules apply to persons travelling to Denmark who have been in an area classified as “red” within the last 10 days.
New rules (EU and Schengen)
All residents in EU and Schengen will be exempt from the requirement of isolation after entry.
The requirement to undergo testing after entry into Denmark will also be eased for EU and Schengen countries and regions with a threshold below 50/60 (7 days notification rate). The requirement will only apply to persons travelling from countries or regions in EU and Schengen above this threshold. Holders of EU Digital COVID Certificate for vaccination or recovery or other valid documentation for vaccination or recovery are exempt.
