PRO Ref. No.: 2023-15480
CIRCULAR NOTE
S!RENEN – Denmark’s new mobile-based public warning system
is now being launched and will be tested on
Wednesday, 3 May at 12:00 noon
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Protocol Department, presents
its compliments to all Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Consulates accredited to and resident in Denmark, International Organisations and Other Missions resident in Copenhagen as well as Honorary Consuls in Denmark and has the honour to share the attached information from The Danish Emergency Management Agency (DEMA – “Beredskabsstyrelsen) on the new mobile-based public warning system that will be tested on Wednesday 3 May at 12:00 noon.
In short, S!RENEN is Denmark’s mobile-based public warning system. The technology allows the authorities to transmit a warning directly to your mobile phone if you are in an area where many people are exposed to danger. S!RENEN has a distinct sound and vibration that clearly differs from other text messages and push notifications.
It is not an app, and you need not download anything. Most likely your phone can already receive warnings from S!RENEN.
If you hear S!RENEN on your mobile phone, you should follow the instructions.
