The second phase regarding the gradual reopening of travel activities

As of 1 May 2021, the second phase of the political agreement regarding the gradual reopening of travel activities will be implemented.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Protocol Department, presents its compliments to all Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Denmark and to International Organisations and Other Missions resident in Copenhagen and Honorary Consulates in Denmark and has the honour to share the following:

As of 1 May 2021, the second phase of the political agreement regarding the gradual reopening of travel activities will be implemented.

With the implementation of phase 2, fully vaccinated persons resident in EU and Schengen countries will be exempt from the requirements for entering Denmark such as testing, isolation and a worthy purpose for entry. This does not apply to travellers from “red” countries or regions, i.e. countries and regions classified as red because of variants of concern. Special rules apply for children accompanied by fully vaccinated parents.

Additionally, the requirement to present a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 24 hours before boarding an aircraft or before entering Denmark will be eased as it will be allowed to present a test taken no more than 48 hours before.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to advise against all unnecessary travel even though a country or region is classified as “yellow” if the country or region has extensive travel restrictions.

Further information, including which documentation requirements will apply, will be made available here: https://coronasmitte.dk/en/entry-into-denmark.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Protocol Department, takes this opportunity to renew to all Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Denmark and to International Organisations and Other Missions resident in Copenhagen and Honorary Consulates in Denmark the assurances of its highest consideration.
