As announced on 17 December 2021, the Danish Government and a majority of the Epidemics Committee of the Danish Parliament have decided to introduce further restrictions to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Denmark. Moreover, it has been decided to extend the restrictions announced on 8 December 2021.

The decision has been made after involving and per recommendation of the Epidemic Commission as well as relevant health authorities.

The newly introduced restrictions will become effective from 19 December 2021. So far, it is expected that all restrictions will be implemented for a period of 4 weeks.

Restrictions include closing down additional public spaces, such as but not limited to, gaming halls, casinos, cinemas, amusement parks, museums, art galleries, theatres, conference venues, community centres as well as sporting events. In addition, restaurants will be prohibited from serving alcohol from    10 PM and must remain closed between 11 PM and 5 AM. Moreover, retail stores will be required to limit the number of visiting customers relative to the size of the given indoor area (m²). This will also apply to indoor church and religious services.

It is generally recommended that persons limit social contact during the holidays and avoid crowded indoor public areas as much as possible.
