Council for Development Policy

The Council for Development Policy provides strategic advice to the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Documents for the Council meetings are available to the public approximately two weeks in advance. You can access the agenda and documents for draft projects, programmes, and strategies that are for discussion and recommendation to the Minister. A few weeks after the meeting, you can access the minutes.


The Council for Development Policy provides strategic advice to the Minister for Foreign Affairs in relation to the preparation and implementation of Danish development cooperation.


The Council discusses and recommend draft projects, programmes, strategic frameworks, and organisational strategies for Denmark’s cooperation with multilateral organisations. The Council advices the Minister on bilateral projects and programmes with a budget above 43 million DKK and multilateral organisation strategies with a budget above 10 million DKK. The Council also contributes with independent knowledge-sharing through discussions, for example on the priorities of the annual evaluation programme.


The Council consists of 11 members appointed by the Minister.
