Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso-Denmark: Country Policy 2021-2025.
The strategic framework forms the basis for Denmark’s partnership with Burkina Faso for the period 2021–2025. The framework focuses, among other things, on reducing poverty and inequality by strengthening resilience and promoting sustainable economic growth.
Burkina Faso and Niger are among the world’s poorest and most fragile countries. Many people in these countries live in extreme poverty and are particularly hard hit by climate change, crises, and conflicts.
The strategic framework for Burkina Faso includes a bilateral
development programme with a budget of DKK 765 million. The programme focuses
on the following thematic areas:
- Supporting civil society, human rights, and gender equality
- Promoting community resilience and national economic resilience with the aim of reducing poverty
- Supporting the development of climate adaptation initiatives with a particular focus on water infrastructure, water resource management, and access to clean drinking water
